We’re done. Finished. Finito. Hasta la vista 2012 and your drought ridden, heat stricken summer days. So long disappointing yields in dried up fields. We’re done and we’re good and we’ll be back next year.
Being done with harvest and fall tillage means My Farmer will leave the house at 6:30 a.m. instead of 4:30 a.m. It means he’ll be home for dinner, homework and a wrestling match with the kids. It also means that date night returns.
Date night usually comes only when a shopping trip is necessary and I’m not talking about shopping for shoes, clothes or browsing the aisles at Hobby Lobby. I’m talking about a trip to Tractor Supply, Farm & Fleet or Menards. Our purchases include outlets and switches, ¾ inch copper tubing, new screwdrivers and lots of batteries. Date night means My Farmer has to shop and wants some company.
That’s okay. I’ll take one night off kitchen duty. I’ll take a dinner conversation about something other than fairies or football.
Shopping for nails is worth it.
Have I mentioned harvest is done?
